Download H2 JDBC Driver

What are JDBC Drivers ?

JDBC drivers are Java library files with the extension .jar used by all Java applications to connect to the database. Usually they are provided by the same company which implemented the H2 software. DbSchema installation kit already include an H2 driver.

Each JDBC driver is using a specific URL. The URL is a string (text) with a specific format, containing information about the host where the database is running, the port, username, database name, etc. The format is specific to each driver. Any wrong character in the URL may make the database connectivity fail, therefore we recommend to install DbSchema and try to get connected. Then you can find the right URL directly in the DbSchema connection dialog.

Driver Information

  • Required File(s): h2-1.1.108.jar
  • Java Driver Class: org.h2.Driver
  • URL: jdbc:h2:file:{FILE} jdbc:h2:tcp://{HOST}/~/{DB}
  • Website: H2

The driver files are compressed in a zip file.

Test the Connectivity and the JDBC URL Using DbSchema

Installing DbSchema may help to test the database connectivity and the JDBC driver URL. DbSchema can be downloaded and installed for free.

Free Download DbSchema

After downloading please follow this steps:

  1. Start DbSchema and choose 'Connect to Database'. This will pop-up the database connection dialog.
  2. In the connection dialog you can connect using parameters ( host, port, etc.) or directly entering the JDBC URL.
  3. Press first the 'Ping button' to make sure the host and port are correct and remote connections are allowed.
  4. After you got connected, you may get the connection URL from the 'Use URI' tab. The JDBC driver can be found in the home directory '.DbSchema/drivers' or in the DbSchema installation 'drivers' folder.

Connectivity Troubleshooting

If you get problems connecting to database, please remember :
  • Enable Remote connections as they not always enabled by default. This may require configuration changes.
  • Make sure the host is reachable. From the connection dialog you can ping the database host ensure the configured port is reachable.
  • Windows Firewall may block the communication. You may need to reconfigure or disable it.
  • Check the driver version is compatible with the database software. It may be that DbSchema provided JDBC driver is not the latest version. Please inform us in this case.
